Dear Lovett Families,

It’s a busy week at Lovett!  Strap in for a ride because the fun is just getting started!

The Kendra Scott Gives Back event started yesterday and ends today.  To shop virtually for some fabulous jewelry, go to and be sure to enter GIVEBACK-1KIX at checkout and our PTO will receive 20% from each purchase.  You can also shop in-person at the Kendra Scott Highland Village store and mention Lovett PTO at checkout.

Boosterthon is in full swing and will culminate in the actual Fun Run THIS Friday, April 30th.  I hope your kids are enjoying the character building stories being shared each day.  Be sure to ask them about it!  We are thrilled to share that we have already met our goal of $25,000, so all of the kids will get an extra 10 minutes of recess every day during the last week of school!  This means we can move on to our stretch goal of  $30,000 total.  If we meet this goal, the kids will be dunking Principal Thompson with Gatorade at some point on Friday, April 30th!  It’s not too late to register your child at

As we all know, the funds from Boosterthon will be going towards improvements on our playgrounds.  We are thrilled that HISD has agreed to reopen playgrounds on campus as of Monday!  That said, while the kids are ready, the playgrounds are not safe for kids just yet.  There is a combined effort taking action now to get them ready as soon as possible!  Principal Thompson has submitted several work orders to HISD to install mulch and make other repairs.  The Dad’s Club and the Playground Committee are also working hard to help bring everything up to code so that the playgrounds are safe and fun.  In the meantime, the kids are now allowed to play with balls and other equipment again such as hula-hoops, jump ropes and more.  Basketball hoops have been reinstalled and are being used as well.

As for the new playground equipment, we are still in the process of reviewing costs and options (there are SO MANY)!  I’m so grateful to Martha Davis (PTO Treasurer) for leading the Playground Committee: Buster Adams, Ryan Clary and Katie Ray in this effort.  We’ve reached out to many companies and are getting input across the community - teachers, kids, administrators, parents and of course out PTO donors!

On a sad note, we grieve the loss of Mrs. Mock’s husband who passed suddenly on April 16th.  Please click HERE to read the letter sent out from Principal Thompson.  If you would like you or your kids would like to send condolences, feel free to send them to school with your student so that the can be collected and given to Mrs. Mock.  Virtual students may email or leave items at the front desk.

Finally, you'll notice that all of the Lovett Sponsors are being recognized this week!  Please consider returning the support by visiting these businesses.  Thank you to our Sponsorship Chair, Scott Rose, for doing a terrific job gaining support for Lovett in our community!
