Weekly PTO Newsletter - October 13, 2021
President's Message

Hello Lovett Families!

Last week was great fun for the Lovett community!  And it was good for my soul to see so many of you at Dad’s Club Happy Hour and at Coffee in the Park.  Life isn’t quite back to “normal,” but we’ll keep investing in building community and connection among Lovett families.  So be on the lookout for information on grade-level playdates and more parent socials in the weeks ahead.

You’re going to start seeing some Lovett Rocks signs at drop-off and pick up as reminders about our fall fundraising campaign. Every dollar we raise goes directly to support our school (with a special emphasis on the playgrounds this year)!  There’s still time to make your gift, and you can give online right here, right now!

Full disclosure: our family hasn’t made our gift yet, but only because I’m always late to the party and leave things on the to-do list for a little too long.  I’m committing to make our gift this weekend, and let this be your invitation to do the same.  Whether it’s $20 or $2,000, give as you can, because every gift matters and together we can make a big impact at Lovett!

Let me know if you have questions, and we’ll see you for our second PTO Meeting next Thursday at 7:00pm via Zoom!

Thanks!

Seann Duffin

Campaign Update

We are shouting WE LOVE LOVETT!  We are focusing our efforts to complete the renovations on the playgrounds. We encourage every family to make a meaningful contribution. NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL. We are very sensitive to the continued financial stress that the COVID-19 pandemic has on our community and we appreciate each family’s gift. Our goals are to raise $40,000 and have 100% participation from our families. Every penny helps!  Find out more and donate today!

HISD Superintendent Listen & Learn

Please join HISD's new Superintendent, Millard House II at any of his upcoming community meetings.  A full schedule of the Listen & Learn meetings can be found here.

"It is essential that we listen to you—the parents and community of HISD—about what direction this district should take. From the beginning, I have said that I want to work authentically with people and organizations who have traditionally been left out of the shared leadership of HISD. I want to create a place at the table for everyone who wants or needs to be heard. "

Updated Lovett Parent Handbook

Principal Thompson shared the recently updated Lovett Parent Handbook via Class Dojo. The handbook is always a work in progress and the administration will continue to update throughout the year.

Participation is completely voluntary.  This is not a judged contest. Each student who brings a decorated pumpkin will earn one small treat. More information can be found here.
