Dear Lovett Families,

I hope you are staying cool during these dog days of summer and are starting to prepare for virtual school. To those of you who know new families coming to Lovett, please extend an invitation to them to join the Lovett PTO to stay abreast of news and information that we can share to make them feel more welcome! There have been lots of great ideas and discussions about how to make virtual learning work in our Lovett PTO Parents & Teachers Facebook group. Be sure to check it out!

HISD's Parent Virtual Learning Course is up and ready to go! All parents are required to take the class no later than September 4th. It only takes about 30 minutes. This will equip us to help get our kids started off on the right foot this school year.

I know we all have questions about virtual schooling, but PLEASE, before sending a question to a Lovett administrator, PLEASE read the Virtual Learning Q&A that we compiled last month and the HISD Reopening Plan. These two documents should answer most of your questions. Our administrators are very busy preparing to make all of this virtual learning possible and we need to give them the time and space to get it done. Another great resource for general Lovett information is our FAQs page. One of the most common questions is, "When will we receive teacher assignments?" Letters will be mailed to your home the week before school starts. You can also expect a phone call during that week from your teacher welcoming you to his/her class.

Join us in celebrating our beloved 1st grade teacher Mrs. Vlaskamp's retirement with a celebration parade on Wednesday, August 26th at 4pm.
