President's Message

Hello Lovett Families!

Here’s a cool story: Our own Nurse Suiki is connected with the Bellaire High School baseball team. They were looking for a way to serve in the community. Lovett had an old, wooden playground deck that needed to be demolished. So Nurse Suiki got with the Lovett Dads Club and they made a plan. Two weeks later, 50 high school baseball players and a few Lovett dads got to work. Now, the old, decrepit deck is gone and plans are underway to replace it! It’s so great to see people working together to make a difference at our school. A big thanks to the Bellaire High School Baseball Team, Kurt Dawson, Bryan Young, and Nurse Suiki for making this happen!

Class parties are happening next week, so be on the lookout for details. And mark your calendars for Thursday, December 16 at 7:00pm. We’ll gather via Zoom for our final PTO meeting of 2021 to get some Lovett updates from Principal Thompson and Mrs. Warner, celebrate these first months of school, and share the outline of our Spring 2022 calendar.

Last thing -- a whole bunch of thank yous! Volunteers drive everything that the Lovett PTO does, and I’m so grateful for everyone who works behind the scenes to make our school great. All month long, I’ll be thanking folks who have volunteered in particular ways. If you see these folks around, make sure to thank them as well! Here’s the second round of thank yous:

Many, many thanks to Aiesha White and Maia Miley for leading our Lovett School Store. Thank you, thank you to Katie Ray for organizing this fall’s Book Fair. Huge props to Andrea Palermo and David Tran for doing all the website and tech work. And a shout out to Abbey Godley for putting together this newsletter each week. Thank you!

There are a ton of ways to volunteer and make a difference at Lovett, so if you’d like help getting plugged in, just let me know and we’ll find the right place for you to serve!

(Dec 14) Chick-fil-A Spirit Night

Take a break from your usual weekday dinner routine and stop by Chick-fil-A Meyerland and the restaurant will donate a portion of your check to the PTO.

Be sure let your cashier know you are participating in the fundraiser. We are grateful for the support of neighborhood businesses!

(Dec 16, 7 p.m.)- Next PTO Meeting

We’ll gather via Zoom for our final PTO meeting of 2021 to get some updates from around Lovett, celebrate these first months of school, and share the outline of our Spring 2022 calendar. Check out next week's newsletter for the Zoom information.

Dec. 11- Bellaire High School Cheer Clinic

The Bellaire High School cheerleaders are hosting a one day Cheer Clinic on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 8:30-1:00 p.m. The Cheer Clinic is open to boys and girls, K-8th grade. Registration can be completed here.

School Store End of Year Sale

The school store is having an end of 2021 sale! T-shirts, yard signs, and all your favorite gadgets are marked down! Buy any combination of at least one t-shirt and any other items totalling $25 or more and you will be entered into a raffle to win 10 giant pop-its! Login to the PTO Tool Kit for more information.

Lovett Deck Demo

Wondering what's going on at the corner of Jason and Rice? We had a great turn out Saturday with 50 boys from Bellaire High School Baseball, 4 of our boys, and 4 of us form the Dad’s Club. Thanks to Nurse Suiki for coordinating and the offer to help.

We need volunteers for this Saturday, December 11th from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. to finish the job we started last Saturday. We need to get the last few posts up, clean the space, and cover it with mulch. I plan on having some waters there and pizzas upon completion for all. We need shovels, heavy hammers, wheel barrows, and metal rakes.
