SUBJECT: The Lovett Letter - September 10, 2023

September 10, 2023
Message from the Principal

Hi all!

Just a reminder that we have Open House this Tuesday evening. Open House is designed for parents and teachers and not an event for students. We will have some extended day staff on duty for families that need to bring Lovett students. Space is limited so please use the link below to register your child. We will honor registrations first and if space permits accept students not registered.

Open House times are: 3rd-5th grade: 5:30-6:30 and Pre-k-2nd grade: 6:30-7:30

It is important to be on time to the sessions to allow the opportunity to receive all of the information teachers have to share. For those who can not attend, teachers will post their presentations on their dojo pages. Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Notes From the Counselor

Character Education Trait for September

School Pride is having satisfaction and joy from your own achievements or having qualities that are widely admired. Pride can motivate behaviors that are likely to bring us social praise. That pride is experienced in response to achievements associated with social or moral value might encourage people to “stand their ground” to a greater extent than people who don't experience pride about a topic.

Student Council Interest Meeting

Lovett's Student Council will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday, September 18 from 3-4 p.m. in the cafeteria. Student Council is open to any 3rd - 5th grader who is interested. All meetings this year will be held on Mondays once a month from 3-4 p.m. More information will be given to students at the meeting. Please pick up your student at 4 p.m. in the Birdwood loop. If your child stays for Extended Day, they will be dismissed to return to their group.

If you have any questions about the Lovett Student Council, please email one of the sponsors.

The Love it at Lovett Fall Fundraiser is LIVE!

Lovett PTO is excited to announce our Fall Fundraiser: "Love it at Lovett". We hope to have all families participate and encourage every family to make a meaningful contribution as no gift is too small.

Contributions provide the essential, unrestricted funds that make up the majority of the PTO budget each year. 100% of funds raised will go back to the school and the teachers.

Tell friends and family too as their donations (with your student(s) name attached) will go toward your student(s) for incentives also. Every penny helps, and thank you for supporting Lovett!

Want to know where your donations go?

Over the last 2 years the generous PTO donations have allowed every classroom to receive a new Clevertouch Smartboard!

This summer the PTO funds help remodel the Lovett Teachers Lounge with brand new cabinets and a new ice and water machine! See below for before and after pictures!

These things would not be possible without the help of the PTO and all of the Lovett families who support our school and community!

The tailgate at Houston vs. Rice was a huge success!

Over 300 tickets were sold!  Mrs. Martin and the choir were amazing, the fan tunnel kids got high fives from the players and the students and parents held the Rice flag on the field!

Thank you to everyone that volunteered and came to support Lovett!

Lovett Committee Chairs & Volunteers

NEW INDEPENDENT WALKER FORM

  • Students that walk home will need to have an Independent Walker Permission Slip on file in the main office. An independent walker is a student that walks to the park to meet parents, walks home or walks to a designated location to meet parents. Walkers will continue to be dismissed from the side gate that leads into the park and will be dismissed at 3:00 with all other students. Students that do not have a permission slip on file, will not be lined up with the walker group for their grade level. A parent will be contacted to confirm how the child is to get home. Please consider if your child is able to handle the responsibility of walking home or to a designated location. The permission slip is linked below. Forms must be on file for the first day of school.
