Due to district changes made on October 20, 2023, the application process for Gifted and Talented testing has changed. Please read the following Enrollment Update that covers Gifted and Talented testing for all grades PK-12, School Choice Fairs, Family Information Sessions, and District Survey and Focus Groups.

GT Testing will still take place between November 13 and December 15.

While the district deadline for submitting a request is December 8, 2023, for planning purposes, I would like to have submissions in no later than November 3rd to plan accordingly.

3, 2, 1... Lovett's Fall Book Fair!

The countdown is ON to the best time of the year. Lovett's Fall Book Fair will be open on Monday, November 13th through Friday, November 17th. For more information visit: https://lovettpto.membershiptoolkit.com/bookfair

Lovett’s Fall Book Fair is coming soon and now is the perfect time to create your child’s eWallet.

We encourage all parents to consider setting up an eWallet for their children. It's safer than carrying cash, especially for our younger students. No need to worry about misplaced money or loose change. Setting up an eWallet is quick and easy, and it ensures they have the funds they need to explore and expand their home libraries.

Let's make this book fair a memorable and enriching experience for all our young readers.

Character Trait for November is Gratitude.

Gratitude is being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

But what does that mean?

Gratitude is a positive emotion that involves being thankful and appreciative. When you experience gratitude, you feel grateful for something or someone in your life and respond with feelings of kindness, warmth, and other forms of generosity.

Words from the Wraparound Specialist

The Wraparound Specialist is here to support students and families with non-instructional support. We connect non-instructional resources such as food, hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, rental and utility assistance. Please submit a Student Assistance Form (SAF) at www.HoustonisdSAF.com or email Ms. Prince at cprince3@houstonsd.org if you need assistance.

Thank you!

~Ms. Prince

October was a busy month in the Lovett Library!

Our Storybook Pumpkin Patch had 116 pumpkins!  Students and staff loved seeing all of the amazing creations!  We also promoted our newest ebook apps available in Clever, Mackinvia and ComicsPlus.  Students have already read over 500 ebooks!  We're looking forward to our Fall Book Fair, coming up soon, from November 13-17!
